The Basque Country – My first foreign love.

“Euskaldun berria naiz.”  It means “I am a new Basque – an adopted basque.”  I’ll never forget descending below the clouds to see the green rolling hills of the Basque Country.  Others know it as a part of Northern Spain, but for the Basque people, and we adopted types, it’s much more than that.  One of these days I’ll make the time to tell you all why it is beyond amazing, and I’ll have you wanderlusting for a week in a Basseria (Basque farmhouse).

Today, since my time is short, I just want to share this video which shows just how diverse and amazing this corner of the world truly is.

Thanks for wanderlusting with us.

  1. The Basque country is on our list. The food and scenery sounds amazing. Thanks for the post.

Altogether too many people stop in on Madrid, Sevilla, and Barca and say they’ve seen Spain. Northern Spain, and the Basque region, in particular, is Iberia at it’s finest. Please let me help you plan it when it’s time.
