{"id":826,"date":"2011-08-06T00:47:41","date_gmt":"2011-08-06T06:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldwanderlusting.com\/?p=826"},"modified":"2011-08-29T10:22:11","modified_gmt":"2011-08-29T16:22:11","slug":"food-is-the-reason-i-travel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldwanderlusting.com\/?p=826","title":{"rendered":"Food is the Reason I Travel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a Facebook page and we would love your participation.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure you are friends with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/WorldWanderlusting\/110949852322789\">WorldWanderlusting on Facebook<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Post a picture of food that you&#8217;ve eaten in some place.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t include the name of the food, or the place where you ate it.\u00a0 We want everyone to try and guess where the food was eaten and what it is.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div id=\"attachment_827\" style=\"width: 155px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-2.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-827\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-827 \" title=\"Picture 2\" src=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"145\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-827\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mangoes and Sticky Rice<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I love eating when I visit other countries.\u00a0 I took my first trip to Thailand in 2006 and prior to that I&#8217;d never had Thai food in my life.\u00a0 I had heard that Thai food was amazing, but didn&#8217;t yet know how good it really is.\u00a0 One of the best desserts that I&#8217;ve ever had is Mangoes and Sticky Rice.\u00a0 It is a chilled mango served on a bed of sticky rice with warm coconut milk poured on top.\u00a0 They sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top in most cases.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s be honest.\u00a0 I dream about this stuff.\u00a0 It costs you 50 Baht in Thailand and $7 here in the US if it is on sale.\u00a0 It isn&#8217;t cheap, but the dessert is definitely worth indulging.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_829\" style=\"width: 262px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-101.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-829\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-829\" title=\"Picture 10\" src=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-101.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-829\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Laab Moo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It&#8217;s not only the desserts in Thailand that are amazing.\u00a0 The meals are so delicious.\u00a0 I\u00a0totally recommend the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.templeofthai.com\/recipes\/laab-moo.php\">Laab Moo<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never tried making this recipe, but the result in Thailand and at Thai restaurants is phenomenal.\u00a0 Moo means pork, but you could ask for Laab Kai, which would be chicken at your local Thai restaurant.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get this meal if you are afraid of purple onions.\u00a0 Sometimes the chef gets carried away and puts in quite a few.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fruits<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_835\" style=\"width: 264px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-81.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-835\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-835\" title=\"Picture 8\" src=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-81.png?w=254\" alt=\"\" width=\"254\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-835\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Durians (my hands) &amp; Mangosteens (Shae&#39;s hands)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I love traveling to other countries and eating the fruits that they have.\u00a0 I realize that you<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_833\" style=\"width: 342px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-3.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-833\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-833 \" title=\"Picture 3\" src=\"http:\/\/worldwanderlusting.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/picture-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-833\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dragonfruit<\/p><\/div>\n<p>have to have some cautions when eating in other countries, but you can have some delicious fruits too.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve tried all kinds of fruits all around the world.\u00a0 In the picture on the left you can see the mangosteens in my wife&#8217;s hands.\u00a0 They are purple on the outside, and when you open them in the middle the fruit is white and looks like a clove of garlic.\u00a0 It does pack a wonderful flavor though.<\/p>\n<p>The durian is another story.\u00a0 Those things are NASTY.\u00a0 When you go to a shopping mall you can smell a durian from anywhere.\u00a0 In hotels they usually have signs that say &#8220;NO DURIAN.&#8221;\u00a0 The reasons for this is because they are really nasty.\u00a0 I dare you to try one.\u00a0 If someone reading the blog likes them, please let me know how you don&#8217;t vomit eating them.<\/p>\n<p>The next picture is of a dragonfruit.\u00a0 It tastes a lot like a kiwi (in my opinion) and is really delicious.\u00a0 I would recommend it to anyone.<\/p>\n<p>I know that I&#8217;ve talked a lot about Thailand.\u00a0 Keep in mind that you can use the <a href=\"http:\/\/track.linkoffers.net\/a.aspx?foid=2695051&amp;fot=9999&amp;foc=1\">Starwood Preferred Guest\u00ae Credit Card from American Express<\/a> points at hotels in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/preferredguest\/property\/overview\/index.html?propertyID=3211\">Bangkok<\/a> (not much to see there in my opinion), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/preferredguest\/property\/overview\/index.html?propertyID=3058\">Koh Samui<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/preferredguest\/property\/overview\/index.html?propertyID=1438\">Krabi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/preferredguest\/property\/overview\/index.html?propertyID=3160\">Chiang Rai<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.starwoodhotels.com\/preferredguest\/property\/overview\/index.html?propertyID=1950\">Chiang Mai<\/a> and more.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never stayed at these places, but they sure look like paradise to me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/track.linkoffers.net\/a.aspx?foid=2865931&amp;fot=9999&amp;foc=2\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/content.linkoffers.net\/SharedImages\/Products\/163454\/523591.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have a Facebook page and we would love your participation.
