Barclaycard is getting better and better these days. \u00a0With the Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard – $89 Annual Fee Card\u00a0where they offer you $400 for your travel expenses, and the release of this new card they are really getting serious about your business.<\/p>\n

- 20,000 Miles & More points with your first purchase<\/span><\/li>\n
- 30,000 Miles & More\u00a0when you spend $5000 on the card within the first 3 months. \u00a0(This is a bit steep, but if you’ve got some planned spending and you’re out of other options, this is a great deal.)<\/li>\n
- Annual Lufthansa Companion Ticket<\/li>\n
- 1 Point per dollar spent on basically everything<\/li>\n
- $79 Annual Fee that is NOT<\/strong> waived the first year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
My Thoughts on the Barclaycard Lufthansa Miles & More Card<\/h2>\n
The Companion Ticket isn’t so great because it only works on Lufthansa, who charges a ridiculous thing called a “fuel surcharge.” \u00a0A fuel surcharge is basically their way of squeezing more money out of their award tickets.<\/strong> \u00a0They tack on another $200-300 to the ticket and call it a fuel surcharge. \u00a0Just wait. \u00a0Our carriers in America will start doing this ridiculous practice soon. \u00a0The fact that they add these surcharges plays a stronger case for using the points and miles that you have now.<\/p>\n
50,000 points for almost any card is pretty generous these days. \u00a0I wouldn’t kick this offer out of bed.<\/p>\n
Getting this card might be a good idea because they generally pull your credit from TransUnion<\/strong>, while most of the other credit card companies pull your credit from either Experian or Equifax. \u00a0This will give you a bit of diversity to your credit inquiries if you’re spending lots of time in the Chase and American Express line of work.<\/p>\n
How to use your 50,000 Miles & More Lufthansa Points<\/h2>\n
Just like we say about not using\u00a0not using British Airways points to go to Europe,<\/a> this is a similar deal where you will probably use these points flying within the USA.<\/p>\n
Because Lufthansa is a partner of the Star Alliance<\/a>, you can use these Lufthansa points to fly on either US Airways or United Airlines flights within the USA. \u00a0That means that your 50,000 Miles & More points will get you two roundtrip tickets within the USA.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You’ll have to pay a $2.50 fee for each segment of your flight and the $79 annual fee on the card for the first year. \u00a0That puts you at two roundtrip tickets within the USA for under $100.<\/span> \u00a0I know many people who regularly pay $500 to fly somewhere in the US, which means that this deal saves you $900.<\/p>\n
