{"id":3040,"date":"2012-09-27T12:07:04","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T18:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldwanderlusting.com\/?p=3040"},"modified":"2012-09-27T12:07:05","modified_gmt":"2012-09-27T18:07:05","slug":"tsa-pre-check","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldwanderlusting.com\/?p=3040","title":{"rendered":"What is TSA Pre-Check?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taken directly from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/\">www.tsa.gov<\/a>, here&#8217;s their description of the program:<\/p>\n<p><em>TSA Pre\u2713\u2122 is a pre-screening initiative that makes risk assessments on passengers who voluntarily participate prior to their arrival at the airport checkpoint.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>TSA Pre\u2713\u2122 includes U.S. citizens who are members of existing Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs including Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI programs as well as eligible airline frequent travelers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If TSA determines a passenger is eligible for expedited screening, information is embedded in the barcode\u00a0of the passenger\u2019s boarding pass. I left my shoes on.\u00a0 My vulnerably naked picture wasn&#8217;t transmitted into a dark room for someone to analyze.\u00a0 My laptop stayed right where it was and if I had dared to bring a 3.1 oz tube of toothpaste not in a plastic bag, they&#8217;d have shrugged it off all the same.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, this is encouraging.\u00a0 For the record, I&#8217;m not one to complain about airport security measures.\u00a0 I&#8217;d fly naked if it guaranteed my security&#8230; of course I am a bit of a nudist.\u00a0 But it has gotten a little ridiculous in a world where my 5 and 7 year-old boys have to remove and re-tie their shoes &#8211; something that consumes far too much time when minutes are often at a premium.<\/p>\n<p>Combine this little perk with a complimentary upgrade to First Class on a three-hour\u00a0flight, SkyPriority Baggage tags that ensure that\u00a0my luggage is free and among the first to come rolling out, and I feel a little like a celebrity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taken directly from www.tsa.gov, here&#8217;s their description of the program: TSA Pre\u2713\u2122 is a pre-screening initiative that makes risk assessments on passengers who voluntarily participate prior to their arrival at the airport checkpoint.
